HOPEFULS 2010


The McDonald’s® 2010 Hopefuls program is a support program for amateur athletes practicing winter sports. Started in Quebec two years ago, the program will provide a grant, over the next three years, to 26 athletes competing in 13 different disciplines who would like to participate in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Games. And because an athlete's dream is often shared by their family and friends, the program also provides funds to parents to help them offset some of the costs involved in areas such as training, coaching and traveling, and it offers funds that enable each athlete's loved ones to be by their side at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

McDonald's supports my career since 1999. I am now the ambassador of this program to provide moral support to the athletes as they work towards achieving their dream. I know that the road to excellence can sometimes be long and difficult. It is in these times that we need to feel that there are people behind us, supporting us and believing in our dreams.  Above and beyond the financial aspect, a program such as McDonald’s 2010 Hopefuls tells athletes and their families that they are not alone.
