March 15, 2010: Paralympic Games have started!

Hello everyone,

March 12 marked the start of the Paralympic Games in Vancouver. Five sports will be presented: biathlon, wheelchair curling, ice sledge hockey, alpine skiing and cross-country skiing. During nine days, athletes will compete for the victory and will stand up for the honour of their country. The Canadian delegation is formed of 53 athletes including two athletes from the McDonald’s 2010 Hopefuls program- Mark Arendz and Jeremy Booker.

Mark will participate in biathlon and cross-country skiing races and Jeremy is part of the Canadian ice sledge hockey team . In 2006, in Turino, the Canadian team won the gold medal. Fingers crossed that they can repeat their feat this year!

After three days of competition only, Canada is ranked fourth and has won three silver medals. It’s promising!

Continue to wear proudly the colors of Canada and to cheer for your athletes during the games.

Alex
